World's Most Livable City...

The 2011 World's Most Livable City compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit (whoever that is!) was published yesterday by CNN.  Topping the list is Melbourne making for good conversation in the staff room between Sydney and Melbourne natives (it's similar to the East Coast, West Coast rivalry...well sans gang activity).  They published a similar list detailing the world's most UNlivable cities.  Please read below.

http://business.blogs.cnn.com/2011/08/31/the-worlds-most-livable-city-is/?hpt=hp_t2.

The top 10 cities are:

1) Melbourne, Australia
2) Vienna, Austria
3) Vancouver, Canada
4) Toronto, Canada
5) Calgary, Canada
6) Sydney, Australia
7) Helsinki, Finland
8) Perth, Australia
9) Adelaide, Australia
10) Auckland, New Zealand

At the bottom of the list:

1) Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire
2) Tehran, Iran
3) Douala, Cameroon
4) Karachi, Pakistan
5) Tripoli, Libya
6) Algiers, Algeria
7) Lagos, Nigeria
8) Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea9) Dhaka, Bangladesh
10) Harare, Zimbabwe

This incited cheers and excitement in the staff room!  "Why?!", you ask.  This is heaps of improvement compared to the a previous list that was published a few years back placing Port Moresby second only to Baghdad as the most dangerous city in the world to live in.

Another website lists Port Moresby as Number 7.

I feel as though CNN has more reliable sources and will still with a distant ranking at 8th place!
